"Mangrove snappers are one of the species identified as commercially and ecologically important for the mangrove biodiversity. Like many other aquatic species, snappers depend on Mumbai’s mangroves as a nursery habitat, where juveniles feel sheltered and can thrive. If we do not protect these mangrove forests, their adult populations will cease to exist. 🐟
Mumbai’s mangrove forests are also the source of livelihood to local communities like the Koli fisherfolk who traditionally make their living by selling fish, prawns, and crabs. To keep these fisheries thriving, they need healthy mangrove forests. The synergy between man and mangrove has evolved over the years and needs to be nourished. 🌳✨"
