"Mumbai's Mangroves are precious! Between 1991 and 2001, Mumbai lost roughly 9,000 acres of it's Mangroves due to urbanization .. As of now, patches of mangroves exist at Mahim and Gorai creek, and at the coastal belt of Versova, Sewri, Colaba, and Bandra. Moderate mangrove patches are also present around Mumbai in coastal areas of Elephanta Island, Uran, Vashi, Vasai, Thane and Bhayander creeks.
We as individuals need to do our best to save these beautiful mangroves, I lived in Bandra previously, and have seen the beauty that Mangroves spread.. I have visited campsites in Uttan by the Gorai creek and have seen Mangroves there too .. Mangroves help sustain the environment and protect it from calamities like floods, hurricanes, etc.
I am an abstract Artist and would like to contribute my artwork towards this great movement.. let's do our best and try to save these beautiful mangroves! This is my small payback to the magical city Mumbai .. which turned me into an Artist and made me find my passion in life"
