"I have heard flamingoes used to visit Lokhandwala.
In school, my classroom's window had a view of Malad creek and Versova mangroves. The geography teacher pointed at them to explain tides and the role of mangroves in protecting the land. Ten minutes away from the school, mangroves and other greeneries were being cut and marshy land being filled in to make way for a wider pakka road. Since then more and more mangroves have been cut to make way for buildings, roads and bridges."
