"Mangroves - Acrylic on Canvas .🎨
There are over 2000 hectares of Mangroves in Mumbai which are home to more than 16 species of animals, birds and mammals and also visited by over 50,000 flamingos every year.
Mangroves act as a natural barrier against sea level rise and coastal flooding apart from providing numerous other ecosystem services.
Mumbai has already lost over 40% of Mangroves -about 9 acres , and rapid urbanization continues to threaten them. Destruction of Mangroves releases large amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which will further lead to global warming and other climatic change."
